Team Nicole Williams
So where to start – I cannot believe it has been almost a year since the last Buddy Walk. Nicole has grown up so much since then. She/We survived her year as a kindergartner. She had so much fun at school. She loved her teacher, Aide, as well as all the kids and the excitement of being in school. I do think her favorite part of the whole school year however was riding the “School Bus” every day. She learned so much. She can almost count to 20 (16-19) confuse her some, but once she gets to the 20’s, 30’s etc she gets it and continues to almost 60. She is really starting to understand certain words and what they actually spell. She can write her name and is really focusing on writing the entire alphabet.
Her vocabulary has flourished. She loves to tell you stories, of course the more excited she gets and the more she talks it becomes hard to understand her but she tries so hard and LOVES to talk to you.
She is currently attending the YMCA’s Summer Camp and is going on Field Trips with the rest of the group which this is the first time for her on field trips. So far she has done great and seems to enjoy all the events. She comes home and talks about what she did and where she went.
She continues doing her weekly gymnastics and swimming and Horse Riding/Therapy once or twice a month. She is so active and just wants to learn and play.
She LOVES to attend all the functions that our wonderful DSNO group sponsors. This year she was in the Talent Show and played the drum. She had so much fun playing and watching the audience encourage her and cheer for her. One of her other favorite events is the Oaks Park Picnic and the Annual Holiday Party which for the past couple of years has been at OGA which I have chaired.
Without the help and sponsors from our Friends/Family our wonderful DSNO group would not be able to put on all these activities for the kids and families. The Dad’s dinner, the Mom’s Coffee’s, Buddy Walk, Oaks Park and the Holiday Party just to name a few.
We would love to see everyone come out on Sun Sept 28th to walk with us to support Nicole and Down Syndrome Awareness. If you cannot walk you can also donate on line and make sure to click “Team Nicole Williams.”
Thank you and Love to you all
